A Gala Preview Party will kick things off on Friday, August 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm and show hours are from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Whale Winner1399 viewsFive-year-old Kate Lima of New Bedford is the winner of the “Name the Whale” Contest sponsored by First Night New Bedford. Kate chose to name the event’s tell-tale mascot “Welcome the Whale.” The First Night New Bedford 2006 committee chose the winning name “Welcome” for its cheerful whale design depicted on First Night buttons and posters. Kate received several prizes for her winning entry.
