Mining Marion's Treasures1469 viewsAn elaborate exhibit from last year’s Marion Antiques Show can only mean another year has passed and what has been called “the little gem of New England” will once again take place on Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21 in the air conditioned exhibition hall at Tabor Academy in Marion. A Gala Preview Party will kick things off on Friday, August 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm and show hours are from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. This year the Literary Contest winner was Sam Toomey, a seventh grade student from Mattapoisett. The winner of the Art Contest was Rebecca Davis, also in the seventh grade, from Rochester.

Whale Winner1399 viewsFive-year-old Kate Lima of New Bedford is the winner of the “Name the Whale” Contest sponsored by First Night New Bedford. Kate chose to name the event’s tell-tale mascot “Welcome the Whale.” The First Night New Bedford 2006 committee chose the winning name “Welcome” for its cheerful whale design depicted on First Night buttons and posters. Kate received several prizes for her winning entry.
