Turtle Care421 viewsSome of the residents of Jenney Lane at The Cove in Marion have found a new passion in rescuing diamond-backed terrapin eggs and safely releasing the hatchlings into the wild. A private neighborhood group, along with “Turtle Guy” Don Lewis and wife Sue Weiber Nourse, created a terrapin habitat restoration project knows as the turtle garden at The Cove. 15th annual Christmas Day Swim421 viewsWith light breezes and near freezing temperatures, Christmas Day 2016 found a hail and hearty group diving into Mattapoisett Harbor from town beach to benefit Helping Hands and Hooves. The 15th annual Christmas Day Swim took place at 11:00 am with many participants saying it was a family tradition they cherish. Marion Natural History Museum421 viewsOn Wednesday, the Marion Natural History Museum's after school group brought in their collections of rocks and minerals, coins, coral, and even Star Wars figures. We spoke about the history of collecting nature-related artifacts worldwide, beginning with "cabinets of curiosities" owned by individuals through modern day museums, and how studying these specimens helps us gain historic perspective. The group explored the museum's collections of minerals, shells, bird eggs and nests, among many other items.
