RMS Auction366 viewsRochester went Hollywood on Friday, March 26, 2010 when the Rochester Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO) hosted a live auction with a Hollywood theme. The auction raised nearly $6,000, and that money will be used to pay for new playground equipment. All over Marion, there were people in day-glo vests working with “Manducas”, long pincers made by Marion resident Eunice Manduca for picking up trash. The town appropriated $3.8 million for the new building, which replaces the old police station on Spring Street. Among those in attendance were Police Chief Lincoln Miller, the Marion police department, the Board of Selectmen, Town Administrator Paul Dawson, Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph McDonald and members of the Police Station Building Committee. Rochester Country Fair366 viewsRochester’s Country Fair was a great success despite the cancellation of the Town Ball Game, Woodsman Show, the Block dance and the Bonfire due to EEE. The weather was perfect on Saturday as children raced frogs, climbed walls, bounced in castles and much more. Although the weather was less than perfect on Sunday, residents lined the streets with lawn chairs and umbrellas to watch as the Hillbilly themed parade passed. Photos by Felix Perez.

Tropical Storm Earl366 viewsBoth Mattapoisett and Marion docks were busy spots last week when the National Weather Service issued a Hurricane Warning to the region. Plymouth county, in addition to Cape Cod, the Islands, and Bristol county, prepared for Hurricane Earl, a category 3 hurricane that stood the potential to make landfall in southeastern Massachusetts.
