Cardboard Boats425 viewsSCOPE Week meant big fun at the beach in Mattapoisett for ORR Junior High seventh-graders who built their own boats and then raced them on June 5 in Mattapoisett. While half the students head off for Survival, the others enjoy a week of equally challenging tasks of the 40-year tradition of SCOPE that gives students a chance to learn while learning about themselves and each other. Historic Fire424 viewsAccording to the Marion assessor’s database, the house was built in 1690. Other records indicate that the house suffered a fire in the early 1700’s, and was rebuilt in 1750. The extent of the rebuild is unknown. Like many 17th century homes, this house originally had a center chimney that will be completely removed with the move.

Rochester Road Race 424 viewsThe Rochester Road Race saw 348 runners finish on August 13, 2011. Although there were 20 fewer runners from last year, the event still managed to raise 453 pounds of food for Damien's Pantry in Wareham. The men's winner was Julien De Marian of Paris, France, with a time of 15:57, and the women's winner was Jennifer Almeida of Acushnet with a time of 20:19.
