Here a contestant displays his skills at the difficult and sometimes dangerous axe-throwing competition. Other events included log rolling, bow sawing, disc stacking, spring board chop, two-person cross cut, chainsaw cutting, and downward chop. Beatlemania in Mattapoisett705 viewsJim Cushman of Mattapoisett, an avid Beatles collector, poses alongside a shirt worn by the late John Lennon during the recording of his final album Double Fantasy. Cushman obtained the shirt from Richard Carlson, a guitar tech at the Hit Factory in New York where the sessions were recorded, who received the shirt as a gift from Lennon himself. Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” was performed at Rochester Memorial School and the Dixie Diehard’s played at the Marion Art Center this past weekend. Triathlon 2009705 viewsOver two hundred athletes participated in this year's Mattapoisett Triathlon on Sunday morning, July 12. The athletes endurance was tested over a course which included a quarter-mile swim, a ten-mile bike ride and a three and three quarters-mile run. The race marks the beginning of the Mattapoisett Lions Club's annual Harbor Days Celebration with events including a craft fair, several suppers and a pancake breakfast , which unfold over the course of the week. At a November 1 meeting, the Mattapoisett Board of Selectmen held a public hearing for a final reading of the Aquaculture Rules and Regulations and Waterfront Management Plan. Rochester Opening Day 2007704 viewsMembers of the Rochester Youth Baseball League (RYB) held their Opening Day Parade and Ceremonies on Saturday, April 14 in the Rochester Town Center. Several hundred youngsters marched from the green in front of the First Congregational Church to their field of dreams, Gifford Park, to mark the opening of the 2007 baseball season.
