Rochester Country Fair448 viewsThe Rochester Country Fair rolled into town on Thursday, August 18, filled the air with the sweet smells of Italian sausage and fried fair food, mixed with the smoke of diesel engines, and created that magical scent we all relish until the fair wrapped up on Sunday, August 21. Tractor pulls, animal shows, kids’ games, music, and wrestling (including the match between The Aardvark and Buck Chuck) delighted us while it lasted in the bucolic setting of Rochester, Massachusetts. Hundreds upon hundreds of little ghosts, ghouls, and goblins took to the streets to show off their costumes and follow it up with some treats (no tricks) and refreshments at the Marion Music Hall, sponsored by those very kind witches at the Marion Art Center. Marion Natural History Museum448 viewsMany thanks to Justin and Jess Barrett of the Nasketucket Bird Club for sharing their expertise and helping the Marion Natural History Museum after school group locate many of our spring bird arrivals. We viewed a red-tailed hawk, two vultures, many robins, a downy woodpecker, and many more. Marion Natural History Museum448 viewsOn Wednesday, the Marion Natural History Museum's after school group had a great time constructing their own rockets. We added fins, nose cones, parachutes to the main body of the rockets, and then added protective wadding to prevent the rocket from exploding. We then headed outside to launch our creations. Every one of the rockets had a successful launch, thanks to the help and expertise of our many volunteers.
