Almost 100 guests turned out to help support the Lighthouse Fund, an endowment maintained by the ORR Tri-Town Education Foundation, which offers grants to students and teachers for educational projects that extend beyond their normal curriculum. The fund raiser was originally scheduled to run for two nights and to include Sunday but was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy. New Year Plunge428 viewsOn January 1, 2013, Mattapoisett Town Beach played host to a New Year’s polar plunge fundraiser. The event, which attracted over 400 people, raised money to benefit BAM Foundation, Inc., a New Bedford non-profit which donates money to South Coast families dealing with members who have cancer.
