Rochester Country Fair 429 viewsThe Rochester Country Fair rolled into town on Thursday, August 18, filled the air with the sweet smells of Italian sausage and fried fair food, mixed with the smoke of diesel engines, and created that magical scent we all relish until the fair wrapped up on Sunday, August 21. Tractor pulls, animal shows, kids’ games, music, and wrestling (including the match between The Aardvark and Buck Chuck) delighted us while it lasted in the bucolic setting of Rochester, Massachusetts. Shoolman Reserve429 viewsIf you've been to the Shoolman Reserve on New Bedford Road recently, you’ve been greeted by quite a mess. A project to restore the Shoolman Reserve Hayfield to its historic boundary is underway. Volunteers Bruce MacPhail, Mike Bare, Art Benner, Noreen Hartley, Mike Hugeunin, Bob Lawrence, and Pete Stroud have made quite a dent thus far, and quite a lot of piles. Plans are to complete cutting and disposal of trees this spring. Volunteers are welcome, call 508-675-LAND (5263) or email info@rochesterlandtrust.

BLM Rochester429 viewsA “Black Lives Matter” protest march drew hundreds to Rochester late in the afternoon of June 12. Escorted by several Rochester policemen on foot, participants who had gathered in front of Town Hall marched down Dexter Lane to the police station, where several individuals spoke about racism and told stories of discrimination based on skin color.
