Rochester Tractor Pull414 viewsIf you were anywhere near the Rochester Country Fair grounds on Saturday, you heard the familiar sounds of revving tractor engines echoing throughout the town. The country fair committee held a tractor pull/swap fundraiser on April 29. Those who attended got an early taste of the sights, sounds, and smells of the Rochester Country Fair with dirt flying, engines blasting, and diesel smoke billowing up into the air. Jimmy Fund413 views11-year-old Mary Roussell of Rochester put together an entertaining event that made a difference – she helped organize a recent walk for the Jimmy Fund and cancer research. On Saturday, August 14, a number of walkers did laps for loved ones around Onset Island in Wareham. The kids raised nearly $400 in that hour of walking. Mass Mini Tractor Pullers 413 viewsThe Rochester Country Fairgrounds hosted a tractor pull of the Mass Mini Tractor Pullers Association on October 10. The tractors are hand-built by their owners, using naturally-aspirated auto engines that are 500-1,000 horsepower. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus413 viewsMr. and Mrs. Santa Claus make their turn through Rochester Village onto New Bedford Road on December 5. Transported by the Rochester Fire Department on a journey that began at Fire Station No. 3 at 200 Ryder Road and accompanied by Santa’s helpers riding along in trucks, Mr. and Mrs. Claus made their way down many Rochester roads, spending hours to visit hundreds of children waiting at the end of their driveways and on street corners. Rochester Historical Commission413 viewsOn December 4, the Rochester Historical Commission presented a plaque to the Women’s Club noting the building's age. The plaque was attached to the building by George Owen and Tim Bates. These plaques are being donated by the commission to some of the town buildings used by the community with a hope of sharing town history. We will be extending this to residents who will be able to purchase a plaque for their historic home.
