Rochester Country Fair 2014336 viewsWhat do you get when you combine the smell of Italian sausage mixed with diesel exhaust and cow manure, the sound of loud tractor engines drowning out the live country music with the occasional barn animal noise, and the sight of happy Southcoast folks in overalls? The sublime sensory experience that is the Rochester Country Fair! What is more fun than four fun-filled days of frog racing, tractor pulling, mechanic bull riding, and fried food eating? Don’t forget the cowchip bingo and John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band who rocked the house on Saturday night before hundreds of spectators. Photos by Jean Perry, Camden Gaspar, and Felix Perez

Rochester Movie Set336 viewsOnce The Wanderer first reported the presence of a Hollywood film crew in Rochester on April 2 word quickly spread, and so did the rumors that stars of the film production “Joy” were in town for the day. There were no star sightings, however Rochester resident Hilary Wood was able to get some photos of the action from her front yard, after the surprise of an Amish-driven horse and carriage caught her eye as it passed her window on Hartley Road. First Congregational Church of Rochester336 viewsThe bell of the First Congregational Church of Rochester rang above the center of Rochester for the last time this morning, November 20, before it was lowered from the church’s belfry via crane to the ground, the final step of the renovation on the church. The historic bell, created in 1892 by an apprentice of Paul Revere III, grandson to our famous bell maker Paul Revere, will be refurbished and put in storage for some time before it is returned to the church.
