Cat Tails and Cocktails 479 viewsIt’s All About the Animals last Thursday held an invitation-only cocktail party to celebrate the opening of its new addition and “catio” (cats + screened-in patio= catio). The addition was dedicated to contractor Matthew Sherman, who passed away before completion of the project. Rochester Historical Commission479 viewsThe Rochester Historical Commission began its historic plaque program as a way to enhance knowledge of the town's history. Recently, a plaque was placed at the Town Pound on Snipatuit Rd. by commission member, George Owen. The pound was not for household pets but for stray farm animals and problem animals of all sizes. While there were once many stone pounds of this type, most are gone. This pound from 1741 is a concrete reminder of Rochester's past.

Children and their grandparents had fun playing bean-bag toss, bocce, posing with the Three Stooges, and more. The face-painting and petting zoo areas were a complete hit!
