First Congregational Church of Rochester328 viewsThe bell of the First Congregational Church of Rochester rang above the center of Rochester for the last time this morning, November 20, before it was lowered from the church’s belfry via crane to the ground, the final step of the renovation on the church. The historic bell, created in 1892 by an apprentice of Paul Revere III, grandson to our famous bell maker Paul Revere, will be refurbished and put in storage for some time before it is returned to the church. Rochester Christmas Tree Lighting328 viewsRochester held its annual tree lighting on Monday night, December 7, in front of the Town Hall. Hundreds attended and greeted jolly old Saint Nick as he rode in on the town’s new yellow fire tower truck. Homecoming Queens 328 viewsColleen Oakes, originally from Marion, and Renee Buteyne, from Rochester, finished the trip of a lifetime on Monday, July 16, having ridden across the United States on their bicycles. Leaving Portland, Oregon on May 2, the two childhood friends arrived at Buteyne’s parents’ driveway about a month earlier than anticipated, greeted by family, friends, confetti, cookies, and of course, hugs. 108th Annual Rochester Grange Fair 328 viewsThe 108th Annual Rochester Grange Fair was held on August 18 with a wide variety of produce, floral bouquets, baked goods, handicrafts, and works of art. The state first place winner for her diorama depicting a barn that contained fresh eggs and produce was Susan Guiducci of Dartmouth. There were a total of 35 entries vying for other blue ribbons in many other categories. Sue LaFluer, grange secretary and one of the fair organizers said that participants ranged in age from 6 years of age and beyond.
