Rochester Country Fair383 viewsThe Rochester Country Fair rolled into town on Thursday, August 18, filled the air with the sweet smells of Italian sausage and fried fair food, mixed with the smoke of diesel engines, and created that magical scent we all relish until the fair wrapped up on Sunday, August 21. Tractor pulls, animal shows, kids’ games, music, and wrestling (including the match between The Aardvark and Buck Chuck) delighted us while it lasted in the bucolic setting of Rochester, Massachusetts. Octopurrfest383 viewsThe Rochester cat shelter “It’s All About the Animals” held its 2nd Annual Octopurrfest on Sunday, October 2. Raising over $7,000, owner/operator Pam Robinson said this year’s event was “absolutely over the top!” The shelter is in the process of building an addition to create a cat room and a porch. “I cannot thank everyone enough for their wonderful donation and participation,” said Robinson. Cat Tails and Cocktails 383 viewsIt’s All About the Animals last Thursday held an invitation-only cocktail party to celebrate the opening of its new addition and “catio” (cats + screened-in patio= catio). The addition was dedicated to contractor Matthew Sherman, who passed away before completion of the project. BLM Rochester383 viewsA “Black Lives Matter” protest march drew hundreds to Rochester late in the afternoon of June 12. Escorted by several Rochester policemen on foot, participants who had gathered in front of Town Hall marched down Dexter Lane to the police station, where several individuals spoke about racism and told stories of discrimination based on skin color. Grandparent's Day382 viewsIt was a perfect autumn day for the SouthCoast Senior Resource Alliance Grandparents Day at Hiller Farm in Rochester on September 19. Children and their grandparents had fun playing bean-bag toss, bocce, posing with the Three Stooges, and more. The face-painting and petting zoo areas were a complete hit!
