Classic Cars383 viewsClassic car enthusiasts from the area gathered Monday nights throughout the summer, riding up in their shiny antique cars and pulling up a lawn chair to sit back and reminisce about the good old days to the sounds of music from the ‘50s and ‘60s. There were no star sightings, however Rochester resident Hilary Wood was able to get some photos of the action from her front yard, after the surprise of an Amish-driven horse and carriage caught her eye as it passed her window on Hartley Road. Lost Ladybug Project383 viewsGuided by Loree Griffin Burns, children headed out on May 30 from Plumb Library to search for ladybugs to photograph and document for the Lost Ladybug Project. In all, the kids found five ladybugs. The event was funded by a MOBY grant and organized by the RMS PTOs, the RLT, Kathy Gauvin at ORR, and the three town Cultural Councils. Society for Creative Anachronism383 viewsThe Society for Creative Anachronism visited a farm in Rochester on Sunday, June 7 for its medieval armored combat competition, the 2015 Baronial Thrown Weapons and Archery Championship. The local SCA group, “The Barony of Smoking Rocks,” is a group of lovers of all things from Renaissance and medieval history, who fully immerse themselves in it with authentic costume and activities. Rochester Memorial Day383 viewsRochester fared far better with its Memorial Day celebration than Marion and Mattapoisett did with theirs on rainy Monday. Sunday, May 29, was a picture perfect day for a parade.
