She dedicates her year of service to the platform of “Imperfection: Pushing the Importance of Body Positivity in Today’s Youth.” As Miss New Bedford, the 18-year-old Leslie College student has also earned the opportunity to compete for the title of Miss Massachusetts in 2018. The pinewood derby is a tradition that was started back in 1963 in Manhattan Beach, California and persists to this day. Grandparent's Day550 viewsIt was a perfect autumn day for the SouthCoast Senior Resource Alliance Grandparents Day at Hiller Farm in Rochester on September 19. Children and their grandparents had fun playing bean-bag toss, bocce, posing with the Three Stooges, and more. The face-painting and petting zoo areas were a complete hit! Rochester Country Fair550 viewsRochesters Country Fair was a great success despite the cancellation of the Town Ball Game, Woodsman Show, the Block dance and the Bonfire due to EEE. The weather was perfect on Saturday as children raced frogs, climbed walls, bounced in castles and much more. Although the weather was less than perfect on Sunday, residents lined the streets with lawn chairs and umbrellas to watch as the Hillbilly themed parade passed. Photos by Felix Perez.
