Halloween Parade362 viewsThe streets of Marion were flooded with Halloween Parade participants and attendees, as members of the Sippican Elementary School Band helped the “witches” of the Marion Art Center lead a procession that began at the Music Hall and went down Front Street, up Main Street past the Elizabeth Taber statue and onto Spring Street, where children were met at Town House by staff members handing out candy for the kids. Marion Natural History Museum 362 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum would like to thank Mike and Jake Cronin for providing another exciting rocket program last week. The museum’s after-school group had a chance to hear about engines and what goes into making a rocket. Then the students built their own rockets, with nosecones, parachutes and motors and went outside to launch them. The program was a huge success, and all the rockets were successfully launched. The museum's community group members had learned about our local butterflies and identified some of the host plants they rely on. Despite the rain earlier in the day, the sun came out and we saw Pearl Crescents at Washburn and Peck's and Zabulon Skippers at Parlowtown Road in Marion. Sippican Woman’s Club 362 viewsThe Sippican Woman’s Club along with several homes splendidly decked-out for holiday celebrations were opened to the public on December 7. Breathtaking decorations coupled with spectacular homes both vintage and new were a visual feast. Since 1947 the club has given back to the community in the form of scholarships to area students. Marion’s Christmas Stroll 361 viewsThe Town of Marion’s annual Christmas Stroll held on December 11 featured rides with Santa and Mrs. Claus on horse-drawn carriages, live entertainment from the Sippican Elementary School musicians, Christmas songs performed by Tabor Academy students, children’s activities and many refreshments offered along the sidewalks by village merchants.
