Soapbox Derby379 viewsMarion and Rochester Cub Scouts came together on November 6 for a soapbox derby on Holmes Street in Marion. The longtime fundraising event was not held in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic but made a roaring return on Saturday, as children raced their homemade go-carts and collected donations for the Murphy and Others, Living Interdependently for Future Endeavors, Inc. Saint Gabriel’s Episcopal Church379 viewsThe youth group at Saint Gabriel’s Episcopal Church Marion hosted a party after church last Sunday. It was The Souper Bowl of Caring. They decorated for the tailgate party, cooked delicious food to share, nachos, sliders, sloppy Joes and much more. Blessing of the Fleet379 viewsThe Reverend Eric Fialho, rector at Saint Gabriel’s Parish, presided as the Town of Marion held its first-ever Blessing of the Fleet on January 1 in Sippican Harbor. One tradition well established the past half-dozen years was the sunflower in the outer harbor, where several vessels tied up to one another at the stern and aimed their bows outward toward the sea in 360-degree formation.
