Marion Holiday House426 viewsThe 33rd annual Marion Holiday House Tour was enjoyed by many on December 9. The annual fundraiser began at the Handy Tavern, the headquarters of the Sippican Woman's Club, which hosted the event. The tavern was built in 1812 and has been owned by the club for many decades. Club historian Jeanine Bruen shared that the club is celebrating its 100th year and for nearly that long has been taking care of this structure in the heart of Marion village. Coastal Sweep425 viewsLed by Marion resident Peter McDonald, environmentally-minded locals and Tabor students descended upon Marions Silvershell Beach and Planting Island, Mattapoisett Town Beach and Warehams Onset Beach to pick up trash and debris on the morning of September 17, 2011. The residents cleaned the beaches in solidarity with 400,000 individuals in 120 countries, all who participated in a global beach cleanup orchestrated by the Ocean Conservancy. In this workshop, the participants combined historical accuracy with modern design to produce a captivating display that will hang above our antique butterfly case.
