5th Annual 5K Turkey Trot523 viewsThere were 31 registered runners for this year’s 5th Annual 5K Turkey Trot for Marion Recreation on Sunday, November 22. The course takes runners from Tabor Academy down Front Street through the village and back again to Tabor. Library Henna523 viewsThe Elizabeth Taber Library hosted a henna tattoo program for teens, with each guest receiving their own henna creation by professional henna artist Heather Cault-Nulton. The art of henna dates back thousands of years and has recently grown in popularity. As part of a new initiative to draw teens into the library, the afternoon henna event was held on March 1 and attracted 13 area teens to experience the beauty of henna. Photos by Colin Veitch

Stone Walls of New England523 viewsDr. Robert Thorson spoke to a full house at the Marion Natural History Museum Friday night. Dr. Thorson spoke about the practical, as well as emotional, reasons why New Englanders love their stone walls. Just looking at a stone wall in its natural landscape can provide an insight into the history of Earth's formation. Stone walls are aesthetically beautiful, give us hints about our past, and provide important habitat functions for both plants and animals.

Marion Memorial Day523 viewsRochester fared far better with its Memorial Day celebration than Marion and Mattapoisett did with theirs on rainy Monday. Sunday, May 29, was a picture perfect day for a parade. At the Town Hall, the names of the fallen soldiers were read aloud and the Rochester Memorial School Band played patriotic songs before heading out for the parade. Photos by Colin Veitch

Cushing VFW Post 2425, which in return gave a moving farewell as it disbanded this year and donated the VFW building to the town.
