Library Henna538 viewsThe Elizabeth Taber Library hosted a henna tattoo program for teens, with each guest receiving their own henna creation by professional henna artist Heather Cault-Nulton. The art of henna dates back thousands of years and has recently grown in popularity. Marion Veterans Day Observance538 viewsDuring the Marion Veterans Day observance on Friday morning, the townspeople of Marion expressed a heartfelt thank you to the Benjamin D. Cushing VFW Post 2425, which in return gave a moving farewell as it disbanded this year and donated the VFW building to the town. Marion Natural History Museum538 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's after school group learned some tricks to identifying local winter birds with Justin Barrett, president of the Nasketucket Bird Group. Students used binoculars to view robins, cardinals, mourning doves and Canada geese. We also spoke about the Great Backyard Bird Count that took place February 17-20. Marion Natural History Museum538 viewsOn Wednesday, the Marion Natural History Museum's after school group created a soil profile for the museum and took an inventory of the creatures in different types of soils. The students also learned with the use of a rain-simulator that soil that is too well worked will compact, and water will run off the top instead of getting to the roots of plants.
