Marion Natural History Museum567 viewsOn Wednesday, the Marion Natural History Museum's after school group had a great time constructing their own rockets. We added fins, nose cones, parachutes to the main body of the rockets, and then added protective wadding to prevent the rocket from exploding. We then headed outside to launch our creations. Every one of the rockets had a successful launch, thanks to the help and expertise of our many volunteers. Marion Natural History Museum567 viewsOver the past two Wednesdays, the MNHM afterschool group visited Bird Island courtesy of Isaac and Peter of the Marion Harbormaster's office. We observed many terns arriving to this crucial nesting spot, as well as oystercatchers, gulls, and a pair of Canadian geese. We inspected nesting boxes prepared by the state Fish & Wildlife department and the habitat restoration improvements to the island. We also toured the 200-year-old lighthouse.
