Hot to Trot586 viewsThe third annual “Hot to Trot” dog walk hosted by the Sippican Lands Trust brought about 20 dogs and at least twice as many humans out for a post-Thanksgiving walk at the SLT’s White Eagle property in Marion on November 29. Ice Sculpture at the Marion Art Center586 viewsIn front of the Marion Art Center, Tim Wade carved out an ice sculpture of a train on December 13, an unseasonably warm December day. Marion Town Party586 viewsChalk up another successful Marion Town Party as several hundred party-goers found good food and fun on the grounds of the Town House on 8/25. Children of all ages enjoyed inflatable games, climbing the rock wall, or jumping around to music. The annual party has its roots deep in the community and may have started as early at 1900. This year’s event featured live entertainment, a scavenger hunt, and lots of good food.

Marion 5K585 viewsApproximately 448 runners participated in the 14th Annual Marion Village 5K on June 26, 2010. The community race raised approximately $6,000 for the Marion Recreational Committee that maintains playground equipment, baseball fields and otherwise enhances the recreational opportunities in Marion. 22-year old Brendan Medeiros of Fall River finished in first place with a time of 16:47. Antique Car Show585 viewsOn Saturday, July 21, the Marion Recreation Department held their second annual Antique Car Show on the lawn at Silvershell Beach. One of the highlights was they we were able to take a close look at the largest Pipefish we’d ever seen. The fund raiser was originally scheduled to run for two nights and to include Sunday but was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy.
