Marion Natural History Museum611 viewsOn Wednesday, October 23 the Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group went on a fall nature walk looking for signs of fall. One lucky student found an owl pellet under a tree! We were able to find burrows, nests, and even a small snake hiding under a log. We observed the different colors of the leaves of trees and shrubs and looked for mushrooms. It was great to spend such a beautiful fall day with these inquisitive kids!

Turtle610 viewsSome of the residents of Jenney Lane at The Cove in Marion have found a new passion in rescuing diamond-backed terrapin eggs and safely releasing the hatchlings into the wild. A private neighborhood group, along with “Turtle Guy” Don Lewis and wife Sue Weiber Nourse, created a terrapin habitat restoration project knows as the turtle garden at The Cove. Marion Natural History Museum610 viewsSeveral students took advantage of the Marion Natural History Museum's new virtual reality set over the February vacation. Student Jacob Nye spent some time on a virtual tour of the Amazon Rain Forest, tried walking in space, and enjoyed visiting with animals under the sea. The virtual reality is available for children and adults to use by appointment only. Museum member families receive five free virtual tour visits, $5 per visit for non-members.
