Sprinkler Activation at ORR612 viewsThe Mattapoisett and Marion Fire Departments responded to ORR High School at 10:03am on Friday May 8, for a reported fire alarm activation. Upon arrival they found that a sprinkler head had been activated in the auditorium due to heightened heat levels. The cause of the heat was found to be a stuck thermostat on a heater in that area. The students, who vacated the school when the fire alarm sounded, remained outside the school enjoying the warm sunny day as the fire department worked to resolve the issue.

Early Thanksgiving611 viewsA group of student volunteers from Old Rochester Regional Junior High School once again served an early Thanksgiving dinner, replete with turkey and all the fixings, on Sunday, November 23 to senior citizens of Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester. The annual Tri-Town Seniors Thanksgiving pre-holiday event was held inside the ORR Cafeteria and featured a fine meal, raffle and door prizes, and a chance to enjoy the fellowship of young and old alike. ‘Into Orbit’ Space Club611 views‘Into Orbit’ Space Club is currently running for the second year in a row. Students in grades 5 and 6 spend 12 weeks learning about robotics and coding, using First Lego League curriculum and EV3 robots, as well as participating in space-themed STEM challenges.

UCT Mitten Tree609 viewsThe traditional Mitten Tree now on display in the foyer of Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School is a project sponsored by UCT’s Student Council. The tree is a way of collecting warm clothing such as hats, scarves and mittens to be distributed to needy children throughout the area for the holidays. The 12-foot tree was donated by UCT student Miranda Collins.
