Stayin’ Alive 405 viewsSurvival Week at ORR Junior High kicked off on the early morning of Sunday, June 17, as the 7th-graders boarded the busses for Western Massachusetts for a week of roughing it in the wild. And for this generation, that simply means no electronic devices and no Dunkin’ Donuts. Survival is now in its 46th year and still going strong. The Scoop on S.C.O.P.E. 405 viewsORRJHS 7th-grade students participated in the annual S.C.O.P.E. cardboard boat race at the beach at the Mattapoisett YMCA last Wednesday, June 20. The students engineer and build their boats – some sink, some sail – and this year team “Funky Monkey” came in first place. There were 15 boats in all this year, all created by teams of four. Tuckerfest405 viewsOn Saturday, Tabor Academy hosted the first annual Tuckerfest, a fundraiser honoring Tucker Francis whose life was cut short while diving during the school’s Caribbean Studies program on January 31, 2017. The shows start at 7:30 pm at Tabor’s Fireman Center for the Performing Arts in Hoyt Hall at 245 Front Street, Marion. This year, the day marked Kleimann’s last day at RMS as she is retiring after 31 years. Kleimann is best known for directing the Shakespeare plays at RMS and for orchestrating the student send-off every summer. Miss Massachusetts Jillian Zucco404 viewsAs part of the Read Across America Program, Miss Massachusetts Jillian Zucco will be visiting 15 elementary schools across the Commonwealth this week to read to 1000+ children. On Monday, Jillian read to nine classrooms at two different schools, including Sippican School in Marion. There, she read stories and discussed the enjoyment and importance of reading every day.
