The Scoop on S.C.O.P.E. 539 viewsORRJHS 7th-grade students participated in the annual S.C.O.P.E. cardboard boat race at the beach at the Mattapoisett YMCA last Wednesday, June 20. The students engineer and build their boats – some sink, some sail – and this year team “Funky Monkey” came in first place. There were 15 boats in all this year, all created by teams of four. National Honor Society539 viewsA group of students paid tribute to Sister Teresa Trayers, SND, who will be inducted to the Bishop Stang High School Hall of Honors at an event on Sunday, October 21. The school's National Honor Society is named in Honor of Sister Teresa, and members honored her by holding their annual “Rock-a-thon,” rocking in rocking chairs for donations and receiving food donations throughout the day on Saturday, September 22.

The show stars Storm Lanzoni as the charming and rather acrobatic Aladdin, Emma Zhou as Princess Jasmine, plus, not one, but three genies – Cattarinha Nunes as the Genie of the Ring, Jackson Veugen as the Genie of the Jewels, and Nicole Londergan as the Genie of the Lamp. While half the students head off for Survival, the others enjoy a week of equally challenging tasks of the 40-year tradition of SCOPE that gives students a chance to learn while learning about themselves and each other. Multicultural Festival 538 viewsThe local AFS (American Field Service) held a multicultural festival on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Center School in Mattapoisett. The festival included several stations that displayed information about different cultures from around the world. Exchange students from Thailand, Panama and Northern Germany also enjoyed the festivities.
