Planning for 150664 viewsOn Sunday, April 1, a group of gardening enthusiasts gathered at The Mattapoisett Inn for a benefit aimed at helping to beautify the town with flowers in advance of this summer’s 150th birthday celebration. The project will include installing window boxes at Shipyard Park and the Town Beach and also planting a flower bed in the shape of the 150th Anniversary logo at the entrance to the Town Wharf. Bikes, Bikes, Bikes!664 viewsThe Third Annual Pan Mass Challenge Kids Tri-Town Ride attracted several hundred young bicyclist to the ORR campus on Saturday morning, May 16, for a bike rally to help defeat cancer. Proceeds from the event will go to several charities in the state such as the Jimmy Fund and Dana- Farber Cancer Institute to assist in cancer research. Relay for Life664 viewsThe American Cancer Society held their Annual Relay for Life of the Tri-Towns from 6:00p.m. on Friday, June 12 until noon on Saturday June 13 at Old Rochester Regional High School's track. Scouts Honored663 viewsMattapoisett Boy Scouts Matthew O’Dowd, Charles Gaudet, and Alex Poulin were all recent inducted into the rank of “Eagle Scout” during an Eagle Scout Court of Honor held recently at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. Each scout chose community service projects to attain the rank: Matthew coordinated a successful Red Cross blood drive; Charles organized the repair of the Mattapoisett Historical Society’s picket fence; and Alex helped senior citizens with difficult chores.
