National Night Out400 viewsThe Tri-Town’s inaugural edition of National Night Out drew a big and enthusiastic crowd on Tuesday. Residents watched the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department’s Ken Ballinger demonstrate K-9 tactics, got a feel for SWAT, EMS, and Fire vehicles; and enjoyed pizza and ice cream. SCC Car Wash400 viewsThe SouthCoast Children’s Chorus – along with parents and patrons – scrubbed for bucks during a car wash at the Mattapoisett Fire Station on Saturday afternoon, raising money for their general fund with a busy performance schedule coming up. “We hold fundraisers to support the work, the growth, and the performances of the Chorus,” Artistic Director Leslie Piper said. “We want every child to be able to sing, so we offer tuition scholarships for those who need them.” Photo by Shawn Badgley.

2014 Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride400 viewsOver 150 cyclists celebrated the beauty of the Buzzards Bay area on October 5 during the 2014 Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride that passed through Rochester at Eastover Farm. A 75-mile ride to raise fund and awareness of the BBC started at Horseneck Beach in Westport all went all the way to Falmouth, and the half-route 35-mile ride started in Rochester. Christmas Day Swim400 viewsOn Christmas Day 2014, about 50 hardy souls, young and old alike, ran with yelps of joy into 42-degree winter waters at Mattapoisett’s Town Beach. This annual event raises funds for Helping Hands and Hooves, a nonprofit organization in Mattapoisett that provides horseback riding lessons and therapeutic sessions for people with special needs.
