Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride 534 viewsIt was a windy ride for the 120 participants of the 9th Annual Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride on October 4. From Westport to Falmouth, cyclists rode either the 75-mile or 35-mile route to raise funds for the Buzzards Bay Coalition, bringing in nearly $90,000. Waste Water Treatment534 viewsIn the aeration basins, water is bubbled and oxygenated, and bacteria are introduced into the mix to break down remaining suspended solids until it’s 90% clear. The water is disinfected with UV light before being discharged to an outfall point at the intersection of Main and Church Streets in Fairhaven into New Bedford Harbor. (Hopefully that lifesaver has never been needed.)
