Super Subs704 viewsAbout 35 students and 20 adult members of Friends of Old Rochester Music (FORM) gathered in the early morning hours of February 3 to make hundreds of submarine sandwiches in their annual effort to raise money for the Old Rochester School District’s various music programs. The sandwiches, ten-inch Italian subs piled high with toppings, were pre-sold in the days leading up to Super Bowl XLII at $6 apiece by the student musicians from all of the Old Rochester Schools. Winter Wonderland704 viewsMattapoisett landmark “Salty the Seahorse” sits watching over the town’s Dunseith Gardens on the corner of Route 6 and North Street on a cold, winter day. The Mattapoisett Land Trust will be sponsoring a Kubb game on Sunday afternoon, January 18 at the site. Kubb is said to be an old Swedish game whose origins may date back to the time of the Vikings and is a cross between bocce ball and horseshoes. The games begin at 1:30 pm. (Photo by Robert Chiarito).

Turtle Power700 viewsHello, there. I’m a handsome, male painted turtle from Rochester currently making my habitat at Doggett’s Brook. I enjoy sunning myself on rocks and logs and swimming in the slow-moving water, and eating insects, fish, and plants. I don’t have any teeth, but I have cool stripes and razor-sharp claws. I’m looking for a female who loves basking in the warm sun, mating, and wants lots of kids. April 4, 2019 edition
