Party Parade703 viewsOne of the unique floats in Mattapoisett’s 150th Sesquicentennial Parade, created and sponsored by Little People’s College, extends a “Happy Birthday” wish to the town and its residents. The sprawling three-division parade boasting two marching bands was held on Saturday morning, August 4 and traveled from the Mattapoisett Town Hall through the village area, drawing hundreds of spectators along the way. Bard Again703 viewsStudents in the Grade 5 and 6 Drama Club at Rochester’s Memorial School rehearse for their annual Shakespeare production which will be performed under the direction of Danni Kleiman on Thursday, April 10 at 1:00 pm and again on Friday, April 11 at 7:00 pm at the school. This year the club will proudly present The Bard’s Twelfth Night featuring 22 actors and six stage crew members made up of Grade 5 and 6 students with two additional Grade 4 students involved in the production. Beatlemania in Mattapoisett703 viewsJim Cushman of Mattapoisett, an avid Beatles collector, poses alongside a shirt worn by the late John Lennon during the recording of his final album Double Fantasy. Cushman obtained the shirt from Richard Carlson, a guitar tech at the Hit Factory in New York where the sessions were recorded, who received the shirt as a gift from Lennon himself. Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” was performed at Rochester Memorial School and the Dixie Diehard’s played at the Marion Art Center this past weekend.
