Empty Bowls183 viewsOn Thursday November 18, 2021, the Tri-Town community came together to support student artists and their activism to help neighbors in need. The Old Rochester Regional High School Art department hosted its second "Empty Bowls" event. This Fall, students in both Ms. Butler’s and Ms. Mogilnicki’s art classes designed and created ceramic bowls. On the night of the event, patrons made a donation and chose a one-of-a-kind, work of art for their soup. Nov 23, 2021

Marion Natural History Museum164 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group had fun last week learning why deer and moose grow antlers, when and why they lose them, and where to look for the shed antlers. We talked about horns versus antlers and inspected some of the museum specimens of each. We then split into groups and hid pretend "antlers" outside and had a blast hiding them on each other and trying to locate them in the fallen leaves. Our next afterschool program is December 15th, our holiday party, where we'll be creating Nov 23, 2021

Wild Turkeys243 viewsWild turkeys as depicted by contributing writer and artist George B. Emmons, whose column in this issue discusses the revival of the bird symbolic to America’s Thanksgiving tradition. Despite being brought to America by colonists in 1620, hunting and deforestation had made them scarce in the northeast until U.S. Fish and Wildlife began transplanting them back from other areas in 1969. Now they are plentiful and roam freely in our neighborhoods. Illustration by George B. EmmonsNov 23, 2021
