Spruce Tree360 viewsAmidst wet snow that tailed off into a cold Tuesday morning, the large spruce tree situated between the Elizabeth Taber Library and Sippican Elementary School was taken down after it was found to be a safety hazard. The tree is believed to have sustained a recent lightning strike, and large sections of the tree showed major rot. Some of the wood will be used to add to the memorial to four Sippican students honored at the site since 2009, and the bottom 3 feet of the trunk was preserved. Feb 01, 2023

Island Wharf429 viewsA severely deteriorated seawall at Island Wharf is one of four major projects facing the Marion Harbormaster Department as it prepares grant applications and an operating budget for Fiscal Year 2024. Also in dire need of funding is decaying infrastructure at Old Landing, the town’s 17-year-old patrol boat and the planned Marine Center that in two years has become $1,000,000 more expensive due to inflated construction costs.
