Children of the Corn755 viewsHopefully there won’t be any encounters with a creepy little kid named Malachai when people attempt to maneuver through the intricate corn maze at Cervelli’s Farm in Rochester which will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 25 and 26, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm both days. The farm is located on the corner of Vaughan Hill Road and Route 105 in Rochester. It’s just one of many Halloween-themed events taking place in the tri-town area. (Photo by Kenneth J. Planting Shellfish609 viewsStudents participating in the Marion Natural History Museum’s recent after-school planting shellfish program with Marion Shellfish Officer Isaac Perry plant seedlings to help repropogate the area’s natural resource. On Wednesday, October 1, the group took advantage of low tide to do some digging and help renew the town’s shellfish beds. They also examined clams and oysters and then buried them in the mud under Mr. Perry’s guidance. (Photo courtesy of Elizabeth Leidhold).Oct 08, 2008

Needs for Nepal642 viewsORR Junior High Student Ambassadors (front, from left) Amanda Frey, Hanna Walsh and Mariah Allen pose with (back, from left) Sally Hunsdorfer and Dawa Sherpa from Nepal during the kickoff presentation for the school’s Himalayan Project. Ms. Hunsdorfer frequently makes good will journeys to the Sherpa people in Nepal, and the eighth grade students have begun collecting fleece apparel for her to bring with her on the next visit.
