Mattapoisett lit one of the biggest trees Shipyard Park has ever seen at the 2011 Holiday in the Park. There was food from local establishments, ornament making, merry music and Santa! The moment was enough to spur two romantic marriage proposals. Organizers reported that over a thousand people attended the tree lighting, making it the biggest Holiday in the Park ever.
