John F. Haley

John F. Haley, 66, of Mattapoisett died November 9, 2013 at home after a brief illness.

He was the husband of Shirley (Grisinger) Haley.

Born in Worcester, MA, the son of the late Francis D. and Louise M. (Creeron) Haley, he was raised in Sandwich and lived in Mattapoisett the last 40 years.

Mr. Haley was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in Mattapoisett.

He was employed as a salesman for several automotive aftermarket distributors for many years.

Mr. Haley was active in youth sports and was a co-founder of the Mattapoisett Youth Athletic Association. The town named a baseball field “Haley Field” in his honor for the many years that he served as recreation director. He was an avid golfer. Mr. Haley enjoyed vacationing in Sanibel Island, FL.

Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, Robert Haley and his wife Jennifer of Mattapoisett, John Michael Haley and his wife Michelle of Westerville, OH and Benjamin Haley and his wife Lee-Ann of Fairhaven; a brother, Daniel Haley of Sandwich; 2 sisters, Luanne Nugent of Andover and Colleen Hewins of Westboro; 6 grandchildren, Nicholas, Gabriella, Connor, Hudson, Molly and Willem; a great-granddaughter, Haley Eliuk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His visiting hours will be held on Friday from 3-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 AM in St. Anthony’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
