Evan S. Crocker, Jr.

Evan S. Crocker, Jr., 94, of New Bedford died March 3, 2013 at Sippican Healthcare Center.

He was the husband of the late Gladys (Cabral) Crocker.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Evan S. and Elizabeth (Wilde) Crocker, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

Mr. Crocker was an active member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church where he served as a senior warden.

He was formerly employed by New Bedford Gas and Edison Light Company for many years until his retirement.

Mr. Crocker served in the U.S. Army Calvary and later served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served aboard the U.S.S. Alhena and the U.S.S. Guam. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Whaling City Post 3196, and a former member of the Star of the East Lodge A.F. & A.M.

Mr. Crocker enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Sullivan and her husband James of Mattapoisett; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He was the father of the late Dr. Kenneth E. Crocker.

His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM in St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. His family will receive guests on Tuesday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett.
