Eugene J. DeLorenzo, 82, of Marion passed away on Friday March 1, 2013. He was the husband of Dorothy Jean (Brass) DeLorenzo.
Born in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Eugenio and Fiorina (Copolupo) DeLorenzo, he had resided in Marion for the past 15 years.
He was an active parishioner of St. Rita’s Church, where he volunteered doing maintenance and carpentry work.
Mr. DeLorenzo was formerly employed as the manager of research for ITEK Corporation in Lexington. He and his wife had also owned and operated the Chadwick House in Edgartown.
He was active in civic endeavors and town politics in both Marion and Martha’s Vineyard. He was an advocate for the Pro-Life movement.
He was a graduate of New York University and was awarded his Doctorate degree in Chemistry from New York University.
Survivors include his wife; his stepdaughters, Elaine Lawson of Shirley and Barbara Perry and her husband Steven of Maynard; his sister, Nimfa DeLorenzo of Niagara Falls; his grandsons, Alfred DeCesare and Samuel Lawson; and his great-grandsons, Derek and Dylan DeCesare.
He was predeceased by his stepson, Patrick J. Lawson and his grandson, Patrick A. DeCesare.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 AM at St. Rita’s Church, Marion. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Concord. Visiting hours are omitted.
