Marine Becket Kiernan312 viewsOn Friday, February 16, Class of 2017 ORR graduate and 18-year-old Marine Becket Kiernan was laid to rest at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. All of Old Rochester lined the side of Route 6 for a final farewell to Becket as Principal Mike Devoll stood solemnly as the procession passed beneath the giant U.S. flag suspended by two local ladder trucks. Vocabulary Day Parade312 viewsThe third and fourth graders at RMS transformed the school into one collective living, breathing dictionary last Friday, February 16, for the annual Vocabulary Day parade. Marion Natural History Museum312 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool group had a chance to learn to identify certain local trees in winter by their bark. Students compared red cedar bark to red pine, took a close look at various lichens and mosses that use tree bark as a surface to grow on, and counted rings in a log supplied by Hartley Saw Mill in Rochester.

First Congregational Church of Marion312 viewsOn Sunday, April 22, the First Congregational Church of Marion held a special Earth Day service, celebrating God's creation. Kathleen, Lily, Camila, and Maddie did a skit around the theme of reduce, reuse, recycle. After the service, we had a procession down to the Town Wharf where we cleaned up trash.
