Tabor Academy Polar Plunge314 viewsTabor Academy hosted its second annual Polar Plunge on Sunday, January 21 at Silvershell Beach to raise money for the school’s Special Olympics Young Athletes Program. Students from ‘fundraising rival’ Sandwich High also showed up, with scores of students and staff making a dash in and quickly out of the chilly waters. The plunge raised about $8,000. Marion Natural History Museum314 viewsMany thanks to Justin and Jess Barrett of the Nasketucket Bird Club for sharing their expertise and helping the Marion Natural History Museum after school group locate many of our spring bird arrivals. We viewed a red-tailed hawk, two vultures, many robins, a downy woodpecker, and many more. Tour de Crème314 viewsThis Sunday was the third annual Tour de Crème, a fundraising partnership between the Mattapoisett Land Trust and the Friends of the Mattapoisett Bike Path. The ride started at the Town Beach and wound its way through the Southcoast, making stops at the various creameries along the way. Marion Natural History Museum314 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum after school group enjoyed a woodland walk to collect various items from nature. The group collected pinecones, smelled sassafras trees, and had a great time collecting many colors of fallen leaves. Then it was back to the museum to construct plant presses and design colorful specimens. The group will bring their completed works back in a couple of weeks to laminate them. Many thanks to the parent volunteers and Tabor community service volunteers for all their help.
