BLM Rochester315 viewsA “Black Lives Matter” protest march drew hundreds to Rochester late in the afternoon of June 12. Escorted by several Rochester policemen on foot, participants who had gathered in front of Town Hall marched down Dexter Lane to the police station, where several individuals spoke about racism and told stories of discrimination based on skin color. The protest was organized by Wareham resident Alexis Sylvia, who had spent several years living in Mattapoisett and Rochester. Photos by Mick Colageo

Snow Spirits315 viewsMary Cabral was driving past Munro Park on her way to the Mattapoisett Town Wharf when she spotted two young children playing there in the snow. Later while walking through the park, she happened upon the result of the children’s activity, a pair of “snow spirit” sculptures. “The sculptures were so cute and seemed to be watching over the park bench that is dedicated to Ellen Flynn's parents,” wrote Cabral. Grandparent's Day314 viewsIt was a perfect autumn day for the SouthCoast Senior Resource Alliance Grandparents Day at Hiller Farm in Rochester on September 19. Children and their grandparents had fun playing bean-bag toss, bocce, posing with the Three Stooges, and more. The face-painting and petting zoo areas were a complete hit! Most importantly, the free event provided information to seniors on health services available in the SouthCoast area. Photo by Anne O'Brien-Kakley
