Marion Town Party357 viewsChalk up another successful Marion Town Party as several hundred party-goers found good food and fun on the grounds of the Town House on 8/25. Children of all ages enjoyed inflatable games, climbing the rock wall, or jumping around to music. The annual party has its roots deep in the community and may have started as early at 1900. This year’s event featured live entertainment, a scavenger hunt, and lots of good food.

Marion Fire Department 357 viewsSunday was a solemn day for the Tri-Town and its first responders as many gathered to honor Thomas Nye, 72, a 45-year veteran of the Marion Fire Department who died February 27 in the line of duty. Over 100 firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel from the Tri-Town and beyond marched together down Route 6 in Mattapoisett on March 3 to pay their respects to their fallen comrade who suffered a cardiac arrest at home after assisting in a fire call the night before. Gaga Pit at Center School357 viewsPaul McLaughlin of Mattapoisett Troop 53 has completed his Eagle Scout Project – a Gaga Pit at Center School. McLaughlin, a freshman at Old Colony, wanted to build the Gaga pit where everyone could access to enjoy a game of Gaga ball. The game is played inside the octagon pit with a soft ball. The ball is hit with the hand at opponents within the Gaga pit below the knees to get them ‘out’. The full set of rules can be found on a plaque hung within the pit, which is there for all to enjoy

Tour de Crème357 viewsThis year’s 4th annual Tour de Crème raised $12,000 for outdoor recreation in Mattapoisett! There were 350 riders consuming over 1,200 scoops of ice cream all for a good cause.
