Life of a Dog352 views“Clark Davis And Her Dogs” is the theme of the Marion Art Center's Fourth of July float, which will be in the Marion parade on July 5. Cecil Clark Davis (1877-1955), an animal lover, was one of Marion's most famous artist residents and is remembered for her elegant portraits. In the spirit of Cecil and her dogs, the Marion Art Center invites dog owners to participate in their festive float for the "WestMarionster Dog Show." The parade route is about two miles. Police Dedication352 viewsThe public was invited to a building dedication and ceremony for the new Marion police station on July 10, 2010. The town appropriated $3.8 million for the new building, which replaces the old police station on Spring Street. Among those in attendance were Police Chief Lincoln Miller, the Marion police department, the Board of Selectmen, Town Administrator Paul Dawson, Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph McDonald and members of the Police Station Building Committee. 2011 Triathlon352 views240 athletes kicked off the Harbor Days week on July 10, 2011 with the Mattapoisett Lions’ Triathlon, which started from Mattapoisett Town Beach and included a .25-mile swim, a 10-mile bike ride and a 3-mile run.
