Tripp Mill394 viewsThere’s a new historical plaque situated at the site of the former Tripp Mill. Located on the west branch of the Mattapoisett River off Acushnet Road, Tripp Mill was owned and operated for decades by members of the Tinkham family. A stone spillway remains at the site. The over 20-acre Tinkham Pond fed by the Mattapoisett River along with other contiguous parcels are now part of conservation lands held in part by the Buzzards Bay Coalition and the U.S Fish and Wildlife Department.

Octoberfest393 viewsThe Sippican Tennis Club was the site of the third annual Buzzards Bay Habitat for Humanity Octoberfest on September 19 in Marion Village. Music was provided by Felonious Funk, and party-goers enjoyed a wide array of finger foods and fine spirits. Friendly conversation lingered over the silent auction tables, which offered original oil paintings, handmade felted purses, memberships to the Wareham YMCA and the Marion Art Center, and plenty of gift certificate to area businesses. The public was welcome to tour the facilities, and children enjoyed exploring all the engines available at the station. Santa Arrives393 viewsMattapoisett held its annual holiday celebration and tree lighting on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Shipyard Park. The rain couldn't dampen holiday spirits as visitors enjoyed delicious food and listened to Christmas music performed by the Showstoppers.
