The students had a chance to take a close look at some of the artifacts he's found in his backyard and were shown how to use a metal detector to help find some of these items.

116 viewsSaturday’s Pumpkin Palooza hosted by the Marion Council of Aging and the Recreation Department at the Cushing Community Center. Families decorated pumpkins, and children enjoyed face painting, a hula-hoop contest, dancing, a visit from Pine Meadow Farm animals and refreshments supported by Tabor Academy volunteers. Pumpkins were later illuminated, giving the pavilion an eerie weekend presence. Sixty-five families preregistered to participate in the event inspired by Marion citizen Dianne Cosman

An advent wreath is a circle of greenery, marked by four candles that represent the four Sundays of the season of Advent. An additional candle is lit as each new Sunday is celebrated in Advent. St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church116 viewsOn February 21, St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Marion celebrated Fat Tuesday with a Mardi Gras party. We ate delicious food and played lots of great games. Many thanks to the Youth Group for all their hard work preparing the evening’s Louisiana-style foods and for leading the games. 116 viewsThe Marion Museum of Natural History would like to thank Karen Alves Cronin and our volunteer parents for the wonderful program March 15. First, Karen showed us how gravity and a simple bucket suspended on a line and filled with paint can produce beautiful paintings. The students painted their canvases with a colorful background and then placed them under the suspended bucket pendulum. When filled with paint and rotated over the canvases.
