Old Hammondtown School’s 5th Grade poster contest108 viewsPaige Mallioux won first place and Willow Ruel second in Old Hammondtown School’s 5th Grade poster contest with the theme “Be a Cool Community, Plant Trees.” The Massachusetts Department Conservation and Recreation (DCR) recognizes Mattapoisett as one of the state’s Tree City USA member municipalities, and one of the town’s member activities is the annual art contest that fosters awareness in next generations about precious resources.

The boys and girls invited their families to view all the amazing artwork they have created this year. The Pre-K class has spent the year traveling around the world, learning about different countries such as Italy, Portugal, Germany and Costa Rica. The children shared unique projects and interesting facts about each country with their families. It was nice to be able to invite families into school again. A
