ORR Class of 2021163 viewsSaturday’s commencement exercises at Old Rochester Regional High School saw 188 members of the Class of 2021 graduate, and they and their families heard speeches from Valedictorian Katelyn Luong and Class President Bess Pierre, along with words from keynote members of the district and school administration. Marion Natural History Museum163 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group had a wonderful time setting off their rockets on June 9. Despite the blistering hot weather, the rockets were all successfully launched, and the parachutes deployed (most of the time). The students had built their rockets at home before the program with a YouTube video created by the program's presenter, Mike Cronin.

Boys & Girls State163 viewsOver the past week, seven students from the Old Rochester Class of 2022 attended the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary's annual Boys & Girls State program. This prestigious program selects students from across the commonwealth to study civics, electoral politics, law, and a variety of other topics. The program serves to educate these future voters on the critical role they will serve in their post-college careers and to promote healthier civic participation.

Marion 4th of July Parade163 viewsMarion Town Administrator Jay McGrail and Select Board members Norm Hills, John Waterman, and Randy Parker walked the Independence Day parade route on Monday morning along with veterans, marching bands, Boy and Girl Scout troops, youth baseball teams, decorated floats, fire engines, and a convoy of antique cars. Beginning at the Town House, the parade route went up Spring Street, then east on Route 6 before going right onto Front Street all the way down to Main Street and back up to Spring. Photos by Ryan F

Also speaking were Select Board Chair Norm Hills, Town Administrator Jay McGrail, and the Reverend Eric E. Fialho, rector of St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church. Supporting with their participation were Marion Cub Scouts and the Sippican Elementary School Band under the direction of Hannah Moore.

Saint Gabriel's Church163 viewsAfter Sunday's 10:00 am service at Saint Gabriel's Church in Marion, families and friends used the coffee hour to make Advent wreaths. Grandchildren, grandparents, couples and kids all had fun making their wreaths. An Advent wreath is a circle of greenery with four candles. The candles represent the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. As it was the first Sunday of Advent, so we lit the first candle.
