Visitors to the park on Saturday launched large and lively kites mimicking the movement of varying sea-life creatures. Held back by gusty breezes, the "fish" faced the lighthouse as if preparing for a feeding frenzy. Children ran in the grass, while many sat in lawn chairs along the perimeter and just took it all in. Holiday in the Park 124 viewsMattapoisett's annual Holiday in the Park held on December 9 was a grand success. Buffet-style food tables featured delicious items from local restaurants and shops, from donuts to pizza to Chinese offerings and more. Santa and Mrs. Claus were on hand for little ones to share their wishes for a special gift, while elves, Frosty, and one of Santa's reindeer strolled the park spreading holiday cheer. Marion Natural History Museum124 viewsOn February 14, the Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group had a great time dissecting owl pellets. The students located skulls, both rodent and avian, and other assorted bones. After identification and close inspection under microscopes, these were then mounted on project boards to bring home. Brownie Girl Scout Troop 123 viewsBrownie Girl Scout Troop 67047 hiked the Sippican Land Trust Osprey walk in Marion on Sunday. Ms. Jerline used her Nature Anatomy book to help the girls identify plants. Ms. Liz and Ms. Alda helped the girls carry a tune as they learned three new songs for their Girl Scout Way badge. Ms. Tia helped remind them to maintain their 6 feet of distance with her yardstick and keep their masks on— they did so well! We welcomed a new girl from Acushnet.
