New Year Plunge223 viewsIt was not publicized or heavily promoted, but traditions are hard to break. That was the case on New Year’s Day 2022 when a hearty group of some 200 “plungers” arrived at Mattapoisett Town Beach for their annual dip in the harbor. Last year the event was not publicized at all, said this year’s organizers, Heather and Michael Bichsel. “But we decided since people were going to show up anyway, we’d help to keep this going.”

Center School Field Day222 viewsIt turned out to be a gorgeous day on Tuesday, June 7, for the annual Center School Field Day activities. Relay races, hula hoops, cup stacking, parachute tossing, and even bubble-blowing kept the students busy and active across the school grounds in a constant whirlwind of motion and color. Harbor Days 222 viewsHarbor Days came to Mattapoisett this past weekend, and many visitors were gracious enough to spin The Wanderer Wheel for a $1 donation to the Lions Club. Those who played helped raise an extra $523 the Lions Club will use to benefit the community. The Aardvark came out too, but since furry aardvarks hate hot weather, he only made a couple of appearances. Photos by Jean Perry
