Brian explained why land turtles are rounder than turtles that live in water, and that turtles have been on earth for 200 million years. Box turtles protect themselves by pulling their heads and legs into their shell and closing up, however they don't move very fast.

Ned’s Point Lighthouse208 viewsTuesday afternoon offered a sneak preview of the reopening of Ned’s Point Lighthouse scheduled for Saturday, October 9, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Cathy Hardy and Mike Lally, a Texas couple, happened to be in the right place at the right time to become the first visitors to the 183-year-old lighthouse that had been closed for the past two years and three months. Drama teacher Mark Howland wrote and directed “Human Geometry,” which focused on how mathematical concepts can be used to understand human relationships. Audiences can look forward to another fall production, “Bang Bang You’re Dead,” opening Thursday, November 12, at 7:30 pm at the Will Parker Black Box Theatre. Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race207 viewsIt rained, again, for the Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race on Monday, May 29, but that never stops the participants from paddling the 14 miles of the Mattapoisett River that winds from Grandma Hartley’s Reservoir in Snipatuit Pond in Rochester all the way to the Herring Weir in Mattapoisett off River Road and Route 6.
